Key Themes > Lifelong Learner
As an educator, I have always felt personally obligated to be a lifelong learner. When educators themselves, demonstrate a willingness to learn, they play an active role in creating a classroom culture of the desire to continue to learn. Its tough to tell your students to always keep learning if we as teachers neglect it for ourselves. This is now more important that ever, with the digital world we live in, digital literacy has become a critical component of lifelong learning for educators. Having an growth mindset to new technology and finding strategies to enhance and incorporate it into the learning process ensures the development of our learners.

1. LT 785 - Action Research Paper - This paper was the culmination of my Research Methods In Educational Technology Class. During this class we conducted research and learned how to evaluate the data of the study in order to properly give an evaluation on a topic. For my research paper, I studied the effects of digital review games on student engagement & behavior. I recorded data based on digital review games vs traditional review study guides in order to view student engagement levels. It was an interesting research project that provided me with a lot of valuable data.

2. CSC 692 - GenCyber Teachers Camp- In the summer of 2021, I was able to attend DSU's GenCyber camp and it was amazing to continue to learn about the core concepts of cybersecurity. Even when you feel like you have a good foundation on these topics, you never cease to find a few key takeaways to bring back to your classroom. This is another great example of being a lifelong learner!
